Canterbury FoundationFounded in 1972, Canterbury Foundation is a voluntary, not-for-profit, unsubsidized provider of housing and supportive living for Edmonton’s senior citizens. The Foundation owns and operates, Canterbury Court, a lodge/assisted living facility, Canterbury Lane, a secure assisted living facility for people with a cognitive impairment, and Canterbury Manor, an apartment facility for independent seniors. The Canterbury TraditionOver its 30-year history, Canterbury Foundation has distinguished itself as a high-quality provider of supportive housing for the elderly. Since the opening of Canterbury Court in 1974, we have constantly reassessed and responded to the changing needs and expectations of seniors in Edmonton by steadily broadening the range of accommodation offered to residents. This commitment to the ongoing improvement of facilities and services was demonstrated by the construction of Canterbury Manor in 1992 and the creation of Canterbury Lane in 1998. The seamless “continuum of care” made possible by our three facilities enables residents to remain in a familiar environment as their needs for support and assistance change. Canterbury is recognized in Edmonton as a preferred facility for housing and care of seniors, providing a home where individuals can live with dignity and respect. The safety, comfort and privacy of every resident are the primary concerns for the staff at each of our residences. Meal services, housekeeping, laundry services, a comprehensive security system, and on-site medical services – including a medical clinic and around-the-clock access to the expert advice and assistance of a registered nurse – are just some of the amenities that every resident at Canterbury enjoys. The number of staff and their professional qualifications ensure personalized care and support for all residents. At Canterbury we pride ourselves on our ability to offer a wide variety of daily activities to meet residents’ social, mental and physical needs. Residents are free to participate in the programs when and as they choose, thus maintaining control over their daily schedule. Family involvement is welcomed and encouraged in all aspects of life at the Court, the Manor and the Lane. The beauty and serenity of the magnificent trees and landscaped gardens that surround our quiet community is enjoyed by all. |
