2004 Fund Development UpdateIt is with great excitement that Canterbury Foundation embarked on the development of a long-term fund raising strategy in 2004! This work will ensure that we can continue to fulfill our commitment to provide an inviting home for our residents, where each of them enjoys the dignity, comfort and safety that they deserve. ResearchA Feasibility Study was conducted in late 2003 surrounding the requirements of the current Canterbury facilities and the possibility of developing a new facility. Consultation involved representatives of the Foundation, in addition to individuals from the community and representatives from corporations, foundations, and other related organizations. Findings indicated the desire of people for Canterbury to look after existing infrastructure prior to developing any additional facilities. ProgressBased on the recommendations from the Feasibility Study, it was decided that the Foundation would begin the creation of a long-term fund development strategy to position the Foundation to meet ongoing financial needs for infrastructure improvements to existing facilities and for development of new facilities in the future. Initial funds raised would be directed to the upgrades to Canterbury Court, estimated at $3 million. An Advisory Committee was established and their work has ensured the progress and success of this initiative to date. Information brochures and supporting materials were developed and are being utilized in the initial fund raising activities. The first phase of the program was launched in December and was directed at Canterbury Foundation members. Other select funding Foundations were approached as well. SuccessBy the end of 2004, within a month of launching the program, substantial commitments were made to Canterbury Foundation in support of the identified upgrading and renovation needs to the Court! What a great kick start to our new venture! Canterbury Memorial FundIn addition to our new initiatives, we continue to receive contributions to the Memorial Fund to support ongoing needs of Canterbury. |
